Overview
*** £25,000 REDUCTION***
FOR BUYERS WHO ARE CHAIN-FREE or HAVE A RELIABLE CHAIN IN PLACE

(otherwise£500,000)

House Network are pleased to offer a double-fronted, semi-detached house with three double bedrooms, built in the Arts & Crafts style around 1930.

Retaining original features - leaded casement windows, crown glass & tiled sills, Suffolk latches to the doors, red-brick fireplaces, etc. Built of brick & roughcast under a roof of handmade tiles, each house of the pair has differing elevations giving the whole an attractive & individual appearance. All main rooms are double-aspect & just two rooms in the house have a party-wall.

Set in a generous plot of mature, hedged gardens including wooded area bordering a private pond, in the sought-after location of Old Shenfield - 15 minutes walk from the station with its frequent 23-minute service to London.

Priests lane was originally an ancient way winding down from Shenfield Common to the village. The parish church of St Mary the Virgin dates from 1279, beyond which is open countryside & the excellent St Mary's Primary School.

Shenfield has free short-term street parking & a variety of shops, with post office, doctor, dentist, wine bar & branch library. There is a choice of private hospitals nearby - Essex Nuffield & Spire (BUPA) Hartswood, with a new NHS Community Hospital opening this year.

For the commuter, Shenfield has a fast 23-minute service into Liverpool Street station & excellent rail links with East Anglia; the M25 & A12 are approximately 10 minutes away, with Stansted Airport 40 min (M25/M11).

Brentwood, once a market town, is located on a hill surrounded by countryside. It has a thriving shopping centre, churches, St Helen's (RC) Cathedral, public library & Brentwood Public School. Brentwood Leisure Centre is about one mile to the north of the town.

The House

Around 1930 a number of distinctive architect-designed houses in the Arts & Crafts style were built in the Old Shenfield area.

Among these are two pairs of semi-detached houses in which each house of each pair is double-fronted & has differing elevations giving the whole a more individual appearance.

Our house is one of these four, with timbered & white roughcast elevations under a roof of handmade clay tiles. It has leaded-light casement windows, tiled sills, a wealth of original internal features including open red-brick fireplaces & excellent quality joinery throughout.

Over the years the sitting room, kitchen & bathroom have been enlarged, but all alterations & refurbishing have been carried out in keeping with the original character of the building.
The attached garage needs some refurbishment - could offer scope for further extension of the kitchen & provision of utility room & cloakroom.

The original leaded casement windows have discreet locking bolts & removable secondary glazing for all except the kitchen & bathroom. Full gas central heating supplied by vintage floor-standing boiler in kitchen. (Whilst currently functional, the system would benefit from an updated boiler & controls.)
